Tailored pastoral support for organisations big and small.

Welcome to The Safeguarding Group

We come from a place of experience, and experiences…

… We work with Education, Policing, Youth Justice, Children’s Services, Care Settings, Charities and more, and bring lived experience of front line safeguarding, child protection and strategic welfare leadership to right where it’s needed.

In turn, we offer services that genuinely reflect your organisation and consultancy that has meaningful and lasting impact. When it comes to safeguarding and welfare, one size does not fit all.

Safeguarding Investigations are a necessary, and sometimes essential process to understand if and how harm may have been caused. The Safeguarding Group specialises in complex, specialist, independant investigations for organisations across the UK and globally.

Training

Great training is the foundation of robustly implemented strategy, slick and competent operation, and consistent culture across organisations. The Safeguarding Group have a suite of training on safeguarding, behaviour, leadership and curriculum development to suit most needs, but even if it is not listed, we love crafting something bespoke for your needs. Get in touch to explore things further.

It is very likely that everyone working in a safeguarding capacity will, at some point, be exposed to things that will weigh heavy on them - concepts, cases, trauma, emotion, complexity etc.

We all have a metaphorical cup, and when it’s full, we need support in quickly and safely offloading some of it.

That’s where Supervision comes in. Not only is it a recommendation of KCSiE, it is a core tenant of your staff wellbeing obligations and strategy.

We know that every organisation working with children and vulnerable people needs to consider safeguarding, but how do they know what’s working well, where things need adjusting and what improvements will make the biggest impact? That’s where our peer-led quality assurance, in the form of safeguarding audits and reviews, plays a crucial role in helping organisations understand their current position, as where to develop, with simple, logical next steps and support.

  • “Excellent training that provides my new Opportunities Coaches with all the skills and tools needed to move forward this year, supporting our most vulnerable and at-risk young people. I can’t recommend Ben’s training enough: Contextualised Safeguarding, Motivational Dialogue and Restorative Conversations. My team now feel fully equipped to move forward in their new and exciting roles. I really do appreciate the toolkit that you have equipped them with.. highly recommended!..”

Nicky Gibson - Director of Student Services, MidKent College

  • “I didn’t know how valuable a support mechanism for my development and wellbeing, as a Deputy Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead, Ben's input would be until I had the opportunity to work with The Safeguarding Group. His support, supervision and advice is now simply a staple of my practice. His passion and influence has spread across the Trust now - our approach to both welfare and behaviour has never been so consistent.”

Tyla Owen, Deputy Principal, Quest Academy (SEMH)

  • "Just wanted to say thanks to Ben for the training yesterday. It was really useful and I found the stats and science behind it really interesting. Also left feeling more confident about challenging behaviors and it was good that it was personalised to our programme so it made it more relatable if that makes sense."

Katie Fenn, Service Manager, Mind and Body Programme (We Are With You)

  • "This has been the most effective professional development that I have received as a DSL. I was sceptical at first about supervision and what it even was. Once I had overcome this, Ben helped me to develop the areas that I had already identified as priority areas but, more importantly, he helped me to uncover the areas that I didn’t even realise needed developing. His knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding has really helped to secure improvements in our school and to plan ahead for how to strengthen our already effective safeguarding systems. Ben provides a skillful mix of coach, challenge partner and mentor all at the same time in a non judgemental environment. Very worthwhile CPD. Thank you."
