We want you to get the support you deserve, whether in a moment or crisis, to manage ongoing risk, or to develop something truly extraordinary.

  • At TSG, we specialise in robust, practical, timely support. We are a team of safeguarding and child protection specialists from education, police, early years and care sector backgrounds.

  • It is not a given that DSLs and organisations will always know the next steps in any given situation - and how could they! Safeguarding is forever evolving but the team at TSG is here to help you navigate each step, together.

  • We work with all organisations that, in turn, work with children, young people and vulnerable adults. Whether you teach, entertain, instruct, support, accommodate, coach, guide, facilitate or develop, we are here to help you.

WHO WE ARE

“Protecting our vulnerable society is not a binary endeavour - it’s a balance, a judgement, best placed decisions and tenacity on all fronts.”

That said, Safeguarding and Child Protection is both an imperative and, simultaneously, the greatest privilege available to practitioners and professionals - that’s why we do it, everyday.

At TSG, we recognise the impact that each organisation, and each individual within them, has on the lives of so many children, young people and vulnerable adults - we also see and hear the weight this can place on those individuals and organisations. We exist to support you, whether that be by proxy as a support partner, a supervisor or a point of reference, or working directly alongside you, in your organisation and context.

Our story

Thanks for visiting The Safeguarding Group. More than 20 years ago, I started working with children and young people, specifically CYPs navigating complex lives, facing challenging situations or finding their feet as they grew and developed. I was hooked - instantly.

I started off in outdoor education, living an idilic life as a Chief Instructor in Scotland. I loved the outdoors (still do) but quickly found myself drawn further in to working with vulnerable young people. Over the years, I developed my experience through a raft of kindred roles including teaching, policing, youth justice and further education.

Eventually, I found myself as the Education Lead for a Local Authority, based alongside their MASH and LCSB. At this sharp, strategic end of child protection, where I expected to find a comprehensive package of support for the Authority’s schools, services and providers, I instead found an expanding void. Against the backdrop of LA cuts, schools’ difficult relationship with children’s and statutory services and an evolving safeguarding landscape, The Safeguarding Group was born.

5 years on, I remain unbelievably proud to lead The Safeguarding Group, and we have grown from our humble beginnings, offering bespoke training and support locally here in Kent, to our current position as one of the leading child protection organisations supporting hundreds of schools, colleges, charities and providers with their safeguarding needs across the UK and internationally.

Today, whilst still offering a full spectrum of services, we specialise in complex, confidential and potentially high profile investigations and reviews, leveraging our collective experience of both criminal and civil investigation, our expert HR associates and our commitment to pursue truth for the welfare of all involved.

I hope you enjoy looking through our website, please do get in touch to discuss your needs in more detail.
